Our Story in Melissa’s Words: Founder & CEO
While renovating our home in Waverley, Pretoria, I did extensive research on similar products, comparing their features and limitations, from Cemcrete to Stucco, Earthcote, and mixed cement, and discovered an impressive product called Beton Cire – CHRYSO®.
Why I Personally Chose This Amazing Product
First of all, I was impressed by its look and feel. It perfectly matched the image in my head of the European style I envisioned for my home. I was immediately intrigued when I discovered this product was directly from France, and I knew the quality would be of the highest standard.
After working with various applicators, I decided to undergo training myself, build a team of skilled plasterers, and dedicated nine months to mastering the trade. With the invaluable support of Theo Smit, (Business Development Consultant) at CHRYSO, Raremoon Projects became one of the first applicators and suppliers in South Africa. Theo played a crucial role in building this side of Raremoon Projects, and we will always be grateful.
We are now delighted to stay current with industry trends, and this new division of our company enhances the overall look and feel of our interior and exterior services.
We had to start somewhere, and with my focus on quality, I convinced my husband, Paul, to redo the entire exterior of our home. My team and I completed 550m² and never had to paint it again. Raremoon’s first project followed at UJ’s Civil Engineering Club, and demand has steadily grown.
See Professor Jannes Bester’s feedback on the project to witness the transformation. Our decorative cement brings warmth to walls and floors with rustic, earthy tones, creating a cosy ambience that complements any decor style. We can customise any colour shade you like.
History: Special Paint Techniques Since the 90s
Since the ’90s, I have had a certain flair for special paint techniques. I have always enjoyed the creative process, from painting cement pillars to transforming walls. My company, Techni Paint, was fortunate to advertise in Homemaker Fair magazine, for those who remember that era. I have worked closely with my team on various interior and exterior projects.
That is why CHRYSO® - Decorative Cement is a wonderful addition to Raremoon Projects & Interiors. This journey has come full circle, and I am grateful to do what I love, especially in my little lab in Waverley, where I experiment with formulating new colours. Do you have a colour in mind?

Why We Adore Beton Cire from CHRYSO:
Technical Insights
The top reason for choosing CHRYSO’s®️ Béton Ciré is its exceptional durability—it doesn’t crack!
Polymers, substances with long, repeating molecular chains, enhance the flexibility, strength, and adhesion of construction materials like decorative cement.
This flexibility helps prevent cracking by allowing the material to withstand stress, movement, and temperature changes without breaking apart. Polymers also improve the water resistance of the product.
